Vida Water supplies, installs and services plumbed-in water coolers, boiling and chilled taps, hot water boilers and drinking fountains for offices, factories, schools and venues across Birmingham. We are based in Lichfield, just north of the city, so Birmingham is home ground for us, not a far-off territory on a national rota.
From Lichfield, it is roughly 18 miles down the A38 through Sutton Coldfield to the city centre, typically 30 to 40 minutes outside rush hour. For sites in east Birmingham, around the NEC or on the Solihull side, the M6 and M42 are usually quicker.
That distance matters in practical ways. A site survey in Birmingham does not need to be planned around a whole day, and if something needs looking at, we are not sending an engineer from the other side of the country. Sutton Coldfield sits between Lichfield and the city, so the northern suburbs are closer to us still.
Every system we fit is mains-fed: no bottle deliveries to schedule and no storage to find. We also service and sanitise equipment that other suppliers installed, so everything can sit on one agreement. Most Birmingham enquiries start with a free site survey, where we check your water supply, space and headcount and recommend the right equipment.
Most of Birmingham is supplied by Severn Trent from the Elan Valley reservoirs in mid-Wales, carried to the city by aqueduct. That upland water is generally soft. It is a real contrast with Lichfield, where South Staffs Water measures 255.8 mg/l as calcium carbonate, which is hard on the Drinking Water Inspectorate's scale.
In practice, a boiling-water tap in a Colmore Row office and the same tap in a Lichfield factory may need different filters. In softer water, the priority is carbon filtration for taste and odour, with less pressure from limescale. Supply does vary, though. Parts of the conurbation are fed from other sources, and Severn Trent switches sources at times, for example during aqueduct maintenance. So we check the hardness for your postcode at the survey rather than assume.
Sutton Coldfield is the exception. It is part of Birmingham, but it is supplied by South Staffs Water, not the Elan Valley, and South Staffs measures it at 188.9 mg/l, which is moderately hard. Two offices a few miles apart in the same city can need different filters.
If you run sites both in Birmingham and further north in Staffordshire, this is worth knowing. You can keep the same equipment everywhere, with the filter matched to each site's water. We set that up on one agreement and keep the record of what is fitted where.
We work across the whole city and the surrounding boroughs, including:
Yes. Sutton Coldfield is on our route into the city, and Solihull and the NEC area are reached easily by the M6 and M42. We cover the whole city and the surrounding boroughs.
Yes. Softer water reduces limescale, but filters also deal with taste, odour and sediment, and they protect the machine. Six-monthly filter changes remain the standard interval for a typical workplace. We confirm the right filter for your postcode at the survey.
